Experts agree that it’s never too late to train a dog. You just have to find the right motivation and all dogs (and people) can be trained.

The adage “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is absolutely wrong!

As long as your dog shows some obedience and has a willingness to please you, training will work. You must be patient, of course, because nothing will make a dog turn faster than an owner who scolds, hits or punishes the poodle for not obeying. That is because they begin to associate the training with punishment and they even become afraid to do anything because they don’t understand what caused the punishment.

Just like children, sometimes it takes time and constant reminders to get your poodle to understand and remember exactly what you want it to do.

But when you show that loving patience and spend just a bit of quality time
with your poodle the reward is a well behaved and happy dog. Happy training!
